We Have the Power to Impact Our Future, and We’re Doing Something About It

“Participation is widely regarded an essential, if not the most important, principle of the democracies of our time, and European institutions and organisations have repeatedly emphasised the importance of youth participation to foster young people’s active citizenship, to enhance their integration and inclusion and to strengthen their contribution to the development of democracy”.

ABOUT US

The project will be divided into 8 international events (one per each project partner) and intends to involve directly more than 400 participants, and indirectly more than 25,000 reached people. Each partner will organize one international event where they will be approached relevant topics about Youth democratic participation and more specifically, about youth awareness about European citizens rights.

Moreover, each partner will work at local level on its territory to create a working group of young citizens active in civil society organizations together with local youngsters from minorities, in order to collect inputs before each meeting and to present feedbacks and outputs after each event. This will create the opportunity to maximize the impact at local level and also to apply specific project activities in each target territory. Participants in each international event will be selected from the working group and this group will open to include new incorporations every time.

The programmed activities will include: conferences, workshops, open discussions, debates, but also some alternative and more dynamic activity in order to create a stimulating environment: role playing games, creative LAB, open cine-forums, geocaching, photographic tour, etc. In order to guarantee a proper and efficient communication and activity implementation, different experts will be invited to support particular activities in each target territory, also inviting representatives from Universities and public authorities at local, regional and international level.

Participants will have the opportunity to raise their awareness on the huge importance of their role in the decision-making processes and their responsibility as European citizens in the construction of a more social and inclusive Europe, both through the exchange of opinions with other participants, through the discussions and debates to be held during the events and through the project outcomes. The participation to the events and the involvement of citizens in each territory should also foster intercultural discussion and mutual understanding, thereby contributing to the development of a more inclusive and more democratic Europe.
